Marianne Gingrich, ex wife of Newt, is supposed to appear on ABC tonight warning that Newt is a perv who suggested they have an open marriage. The interview seems timed to prevent Gingrich from continuing his rise in the polls.
ABC is already suspect as a "news" organization, since it now has as a main anchor former Clinton administration chipmunk George Stephanapolous. But treating Marianne Gingrich as a news source also seems to indicate that ABC News may be on the level of Jerry Springer and the Jersey Shore.
In the article below Marianne Gingrich seems to be in pain over how little money the Gingriches had when they were married and he was Speaker. How must she react to the news that Newt Gingrich now makes millions giving "advice" to Fannie Mae and opens a $500,000 account at Tiffany's to buy the new wife baubles?
And in the quashed FBI investigation in which Marianne Gingrich was a subject, she seems to have been playing a Sarah Ferguson role of selling access to her husband, the Speaker of the House, to supplement that meager income. Wouldn't a spouse doing that lead you to want an open marriage, or no marriage at all? And does ABC vet its interview sources at all?

That May 1995 phone call from Bennett to Soghanalian resulted in a two-year FBI investigation so sensitive that details have never before been made public. The goal of the investigation, according to a Justice Department official, “…was to see if Gingrich, through his then wife, was involved in an attempt by political associates to solicit bribes.” One of the team of FBI agents involved in the case says, “The investigation was called off before we were permitted to finish making a case.” Another agent says it was just “too politically sensitive. We got so close and when the target was in sight, we were stopped by Washington.”
